New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi spoke about the issue of obesity in his "Mann Ki Baat" program. He expressed concern that obesity is becoming a serious problem in the country. He called for appropriate measures to overcome this issue. He suggested that people reduce the consumption of cooking oils. To raise awareness on this issue, Prime Minister Modi nominated 10 prominent individuals. The Prime Minister stated that obesity cases have doubled in recent years.

What is even more concerning is that obesity among children has increased fourfold," said Prime Minister Modi. According to statistics provided by the World Health Organization in 2022, 250 crore people worldwide are affected by obesity. He mentioned that one in every eight people is facing the issue of obesity.

The Prime Minister described this as a highly concerning issue and called for efforts to overcome it. He suggested reducing the use of cooking oils in food by 10%. In this regard, prominent industrialist Anand Mahindra, Jammu Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah, young shooter Manu Bhaker, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, famous actors Dinesh Lal Yadav alias Nirahua, Mohanlal, Madhavan, singer Shreya Ghoshal, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, and Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy were nominated by Prime Minister Modi.
